My Oscar predictions

Now that the Oscar nominations have been announced, it’s time to predict the winners. There is still a little over a month left, and voting hasn’t started, so things can still change. As of January 21^st, these are my predictions:

Best picture: Lincoln

Best director: Steven Spielberg, Lincoln

Best actor: Daniel Day-Lewis, Lincoln

Best actress: Jessica Chastain, Zero dark thirty (possible upset: Jennifer Lawrence, Silver linings playbook)

Best actor in a supporting role: Phillip Seymour Hoffman, The master (possible upset: Tommy Lee Jones, Lincoln)

Best actress in a supporting role: Anne Hathaway, Les misérables

Best adapted screenplay: Argo (possible upsert: Lincoln)

Best original screenplay: Zero Dark Thirty

Best animated feature: ParaNorman (possible upset: any other nominee, except maybe Pirates! Band of misfits)

Best documentary feature: Searching for Sugar Man

Best foreign language film: Amour

Best animated short: Paperman (possible upset: Maggie Simpson in The Longest Daycare)

Best documentary short: Mondays at Racine

Best live action short: Buzkashi boys

Best cinematography: Life of Pi

Best costume design: Anna Karenina

Best film editing: Zero dark thirty

Best make up and hairstyling: Les Misérables

Best score: Mychael Danna, Life of Pi

Best original song: Skyfall

Best production design: Anna Karenina

Best sound editing: Life of Pi

Best sound mixing: Les Misérables

Best visual effects: Life of Pi
